Week 1 is always a tough week to gauge. Some teams surprise, some teams disappoint, but nevertheless, the season result will never be determined by the opening week. Last year, more teams that made the playoffs started 0-1, than teams who started 0-1. Dropping two straight at the beginning of the year has a team’s postseason odds drop significantly, however. Since the NFL expanded to 32 teams in 2002, teams who have started 0-2 have only made the playoffs 16 out of 140 tries for a success rate of only 11.4%. Teams the likes the Browns, Steelers, Falcons, and Bears find themselves essentially a must win situation. Meanwhile, Week 2 is highlighted by a NFC championship rematch between the Saints and Rams, which could in turn have huge implications towards seeding come January. Last week was an abysmal start for me, but it’s a new week, and as a result, here’s to a rebound of fortune!
